“Speech is power: Speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.”

The art of public speaking not only gives the platform to people to speak but also to build the confidence amongst them. Today, Witty international school conducted a workshop on Public Speaking headed by a professional trainer, Ms. Ayushi Roy Dey.

Beginning with giving various tips on how to introduce oneself and to present ourselves in front of others. The workshop escalated with strategies and techniques told to improve ourselves in public speaking.

Overall, the workshop helped the students to know different ways of interaction and grabbing the attention of the audience. It was quite an interactive session which helped students to build up their thinking and speaking abilities.

Republic Day Programme, IGCSE Secondary Section (2020-21), WIS, PB

 Virtual Republic Day Celebration

January 26 carries sentimental significance for our country. On 26th January 1950, India came into existence as a Republic. And ever since then January 26 is celebrated as Republic Day every year. It is a great celebration and a moment of pride for the whole nation. The day reminds us about all the fundamental rights and privileges the country has offered us.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Witty International School, Pawan Baug, Malad (West) decided to organise and celebrate Republic Day virtually. Wittians from six clubs worked in unison. These students were assigned different tasks. Many cultural events like patriotic songs, dances, skit, poems, and speeches were taken up and it was a grand success.

The event was marked with hoisting of the Tricolour on the stage of the school. The programme then continued by paying tribute to India. Symphony Music Club captivated everyone with their spectacular patriotic songs, while Spotlight Theatre Club performed an eye-opening skit to show unity in diversity and the rich cultural heritage that India has for a very long time. ROFL Comedy Club members gave a great time to the students. Some of the incredibly charismatic dancers from Infinity Dance club tapped on the most patriotic numbers. Midst of all the colourful and culturally rich tableaus were the inspiring speeches and poems of the Literati English Club. These speeches gave deep insights to the students and teachers.

Though this year’s Republic Day celebration had been virtual but was certainly different as the students sat back and watched the whole show with their families at home. The Nationalistic and Patriotic feeling was in the air as this historic event was commemorated with great enthusiasm and patriotism.

Craft Workshop for Republic Day, Secondary Section (2020-21), WIS, PB

Open your Wings to Fly (Craft Workshop)

26th January - "Republic Day" is an auspicious day for every Indian. It honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India, thus turning the nation into a newly formed Republic.

To rejoice the glory of the nation and not to forget to thank the soldiers, Witty International School, Pawan Baug, Malad (West) Grade VI (IGCSE & ICSE) students participated in a Craft workshop on 16th January 2021. "Open your Wings to Fly" reflected the theme of a Constitution that breathes life into our existence as a Republic.

Mr. Sushant Panchal, an art educator engaged his students with his spectacular art, and made their day special by teaching them how to make a tricolour bird. His simplified steps and incessant help made the students come up with the most artistic and expressive birds. This art can be related to ‘milestones’ for the students as they learnt why this day is special, why it has been declared as a national holiday, why we celebrate it.

As said by Benjamin Franklin – “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” So there is no better way to teach the students but to involve them.
