This
week in Scinema we explored the mysteries of Science.Students watched an
American award winning science documentary “Through the Wormhole” exploring the
deepest mysteries of existence and the questions that have puzzled mankind for
eternity. What are we made of? What was there before the beginning? Are we
really alone? Is there a creator? These questions have been pondered by the
most exquisite minds of the human race. Now, science has evolved to the point
where hard facts and evidence may be able to provide us with answers instead of
philosophical theories. Through the Wormhole brings together the brightest
minds and best ideas from the very edges of science - Astrophysics,
Astrobiology, Quantum Mechanics, String Theory, and more - to reveal the
extraordinary truth of our Universe.
In
today’s movie students considered the likelihood that intelligent life exists
elsewhere in the universe and the prospects that it may inhabit a nearby
planet. Aliens almost certainly do exist. So why haven't we yet met E.T.? It
turns out we're only just developing instruments powerful enough to scan for
them and science sophisticated enough to know where to look. As a result, race
is on to find the first intelligent aliens. Students understood how aliens
would look like, and how would they interact with us if we met them. The
documentary reflected the views of leading astronomers and astrophysicists and
their efforts to communicate within the cosmos.
