Intellectual
property Rights plays a vital role in enhancing the socio-economic prosperity
of the country. Creativity and innovation are new drivers of world economy.
With the increasing relevance of Intellectual Property in this era of
globalisation, it is important to recognise the role which IPR (Intellectual
Property Rights) play in the growth of the nation. Thus Witty International
School, Pawan Baug, organised an Intellectual Property awareness workshop by Ms
Ankita Jain from HUL – Hindustan Lever Limited for students of Grade AS and A
Level.
The
workshop was intended to cover various aspects of IPR like Patents, Copyrights,
and Trademarks etc. Ms Ankita Jain asserted, “Understanding and protecting
intellectual property is an important part of the process of bringing
innovations to the market place. Intellectual property is a key concern of
small business owners who can secure significant competitive advantages by
exercising the rights they hold to their innovations. However, many individuals
are often unaware of their rights and miss the opportunities they can provide
especially young impressionable minds which can lead to serious repercussions
later on.”
The
young Wittians were highly enthused to know that the Intellectual Property is
at the forefront of modern law and turning into one of the key components of
any large company or organisation. Various case studies were discussed where
students got firsthand knowledge about Intellectual Property issues.
The Principal, Mr Bijo
Kurian commented, “In this global era it is imperative for our young minds to
be innovative and but moreover be aware about their innovation protection
rights too. We aim to enable our children to be enriched with these basic
rights and laws.”
