In accordance to the theme of the month “Community
Helpers” Jr.KG students of Witty Kids Chikoowadi were taken for a field
trip to a fire station on Thursday, 26 July 2018. The visit was an
extension to their knowledge of fire fighters. They got hands
on-experience on fire safety. The firemen demonstrated the use of different
equipment such as water hose and ladders used by them and performing the
drill. Children were ecstatic to see the fire fighters dressed in protective
gear. Students were informed that the dress was made out of a material which is
fire resistant and the helmet has a fire resistant face guard and a
torch. Many a times children
run away from firemen in an emergency situation because they are scared. Showing how a firefighter looks like fully dressed is a great
way to prepare if a fire or emergency ever happens at home! The fire fighter told them about the emergency
number 101, which they can call when there is a fire. It was a fun filled,
informative experience which the children can use to associate with their
immediate environment.
