We are
living in a technologically dependent world. Never in the history of humanity
have human beings been so dependent on technology in our day to day activities.
However,
with this new dependence has also come exploitation and crime. We call this
'CyberCrime'. In Cyber Crime, criminals look to exploit individuals anonymously
through the internet.
For
the benefit of students and to make them aware of the cyber threats a seminar
was organized on “Cyber Crime Awareness” for the students of Witty
International School, on 5th September, 2018.
Senior
Police Inspector, Vishal Gaikwad informed the students of all the ways we can
be more prepared and reduce risk caused due to cybCombating

the benefit of students and to make them aware of the cyber threats a seminar
was organized on “Cyber Crime Awareness” for the students of Witty
International School, on 5th September, 2018.
Senior
Police Inspector, Vishal Gaikwad informed the students of all the ways we can
be more prepared and reduce risk caused due to cyber crime so that we do not
become victims.
He explained
how, Cyber Crime Awareness in India is
at low ebb as is evident by the exponential growth in cybercrime rate.Students
have tremendous talent and potential to provide security solutions but
unfortunately their talent is not properly harnessed and channelized.
Therefore, the need was felt to spread awareness about the online threats among
the students.
He covered
various areas like what is cyber world? What are the known and unknown risks of
cyber world? How to be safe in cyber world? He also shared some interesting
facts and figure regarding the cyber world. “It is easy for young naive
students to fall prey to invisible criminals on cyber space,” said
Mr.VishalGaikwad. He also emphasized that students must never befriend people
over the internet and should also not try to fix up a meeting with them without
informing their parents.
He cautioned that 80% of
teenagers use smart phones and if they are not careful, it may lead to negative
effects to oneself and their family.
Sharing the ways crimes are committed through mobile phones
and occurrence of cybercrime due to lack of awareness on its usage, further
advised the students to be aware on mobile phones usage and the consequences
one will face if caught in such crime. According to Section 43 ‘ITA’ 2000, if
one is caught hacking, he/she will face 3 years of imprisonment or 5 years or
even both, it was informed.
Meanwhile, he stressed that awareness on the issue should be
created by both parents and teachers. He urged them to identify teenagers and
extend help by engaging in meaningful conversation about internet and the
familiar social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp.

them into a better tomorrow by making the right moves in the technologically
