Spring is nature’s
way of reminding us that every day is worthy of celebration.
The festival of
Basant Panchami signifies that the days of ignorance and gloom are over
and the period of joy
and spiritual awakening has begun. The auspicious festival marks the
end of the winter
season and the onset of spring season. Wittians celebrated Basant
Panchami with
religious fervour and gaiety.
The celebrations
commenced with a beautiful skit which depicted how the Goddess
Saraswati, the one
who flows (saras) easily (wati), was created by Lord Brahma. A dance
performance by
students of grade 1 offering prayers and invoking the blessings of Goddess
Saraswati transcended
the ambience. The importance of Basant Panchami and the
association of yellow
colour with the festival was discussed with the students. The children
enjoyed the day,
enlightened by the blessings of Maa Saraswati.
