Quand on veut,on
peut.
“Where there is a will, there is a way”
The French National Day commonly known as the ‘Bastille
Day’ signifies the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789. It is a day to celebrate and remember the
beginning of the French Revolution, following the storming of the Bastille in
Paris, which was a fortress and prison representing French Royalty in
1789.
Witty International School encourages and promotes students
to be ‘Global Citizens’. With this ideology La fête nationale was celebrated at
school. Students of Grade V and VI participated in the event.
Many thanks to Mr.
Frédéric Simon (Director of Alliance Française de Bombay) for gracing the
occasion. The programme started with a welcome dance, a fusion of French music
and Bharatnatyam. A short skit performed by the students depicting the pain of
ordinary people and the gruesome beheading of the Monarch helped students
understand that the revolution paved way to a state of Freedom, Equality and
Brotherhood.
Wittians melodiously
sang the glory and grandeur, of the
most famous avenue in the world through the French song Champs – Élysées.
Mr.
Frédéric Simon enlighted the Wittians with his speech motivating them to learn
the language in a fun way. No better way it could be than conducting a workshop
for the students on mask making, puppetry and French theatrical techniques. This
day was an opportunity to motivate students to practice French speaking and art
skills.
An amazing end to the
mesmerizing programme was the breath-taking Grand Finale performance.
It was indeed a
fruitful day where students were exposed to the importance of celebrating the
Bastille Day!
