Let’s learn the colours, let’s learn the colours
Let’s learn the colours together.
Yellow, Red, Orange,
Blue, Green and Purple,
Black and White…..
Recognizing the colours and identifying the colour names is an important part of a child’s development. Early identification of colours helps to create the cognitive link between visual clues and words. For this reason, Colour Days were celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm for the Jr. KG section of Witty International School, Udaipur from 1st to 10th of July 2019. Every day the little ones were introduced to a new colour. The classroom was beautifully decorated with the respective day colour objects. Children excitedly participated in the activities that were done for each day. They enjoyed making magnifying glasses for the yellow and red days. Teacher showed how mixing of two primary yellow and red, make a secondary colour orange. To emphasize the orange colour children made a flower with red and yellow colour in their scrap book. It gave them great pleasure to see the colour change and they thought it was magical! They also curiously watched “Red Hen” and “Yankee the Yellow Duck” stories. Blue colour is associated with calmness, strength, friendship and serenity. Children excitedly participated in the activity of colouring the beach scene blue and enjoyed watching “Billy Blue” Story. Purple is a colour that symbolizes compassion, creativity & free spirit. Children did activity of mixing two primary colours red and blue to get a secondary colour purple. They also did an activity of making a rainbow kite with colourful streamers. Black is the darkest colour, the result of the absence or complete absorption of visible light. It is an achromatic colour, literally a colour without hue, like white. To highlight the importance of black and white colour children did a magical night scene in their scrapbook. These were fun filled colour days for the little Wittians to become more familiar with the concept with abundant learning.
