India
is gem of a country. It's history, culture and heritage is as unique as it is
rich. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has rightly said, “We live in a wonderful world
that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures
we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”
Keeping the above thought in mind, Witty International School, Pawan Baug organized an educational field
trip to Discovery of India, Worli for the Wittians of Grades 4 and 5 on
Saturday, 18th February, 2017 helping them to understand and
experience the true essence of India in the most visual way.
A visit to ‘Discovery of India’ gave our Wittians
an exposure to 14 galleries of different aspects of the Indian civilization
from its very beginning. On one side, there was a life history of Jawaharlal
Nehru from his birth, education, return to India, participation in the freedom
struggle, etc. The other side had India's history right from the pre-historic
era to the Mauryan, Mughal, Maratha Empire and ending with India's
Independence. These exhibits were quite detailed which helped the students to link
their learning as if they were walking into a history book. Students could
relate to a lot of things there which kept them more engaged during their excursion.
As soon as the students entered a particular gallery, all their excitement of
being aware about the information displayed resulted into an interactive
discussion between the students and the teachers.
Wittians were also shown a documentary on ‘Who are
we’ giving a message of secularism, harmony and unity in diversity. It was
a place where students either discovered things they never knew about or learnt
more about things they just knew fleetingly.
This field trip was an
overall success with the students’ enthusiastic response. It was an
interesting, enriching and informative field trip. Witty International School
thanked the management team and the staff of ‘Discovery of India’ for providing
their valuable time and for their assistance and co-operation rendered to us.
