Road Safety Awareness Seminar
Right to life and safety is a fundamental right of any citizen. This is guaranteed under the constitution of every country in the world including India. Anything, which is hazardous to human, violates the right to life, and road safety is as much on the agenda as any other area, which may be accident-prone.
Roads today have become extremely unsafe especially for pedestrians. Everyday there is news of road crashes. At Witty International School, Pawan Baug, we aim to make our students aware about all aspects of responsible road behavior. As a road user, each member of the Witty faculty must adhere strictly to all traffic rules and also spread the message to all. Responsible road behavior should not be an alien term to our students but a part of their daily lifestyle. Thus, a Road Safety Awareness Seminar was conducted for the students of Grade IGCSE – I by the R.T.O in association with the Mumbai Police to generate awareness on road safety and to bring about policy changes to address some of the burning issues of road safety.
The Officer in charge addressed the audience and said that road safety cannot be brought in a day and that it requires a change in attitude first. He asserted that in the age of technology one can effectively use their mobile phone to inform the police about people not following traffic rules by making videos and clicking photos. He said, “The traffic rules are for our safety but now a day’s people are not following these rules, and that is the leading cause behind the increasing rate of road accidents and injuries. The traffic rules must be learned from the early age but following those rules in later age is critical,” General queries were answered by the officers which enlightened the children greatly.
