Description

Diwali (also spelled Devali in certain regions) or Deepavali popularly known as the "festival of lights", is an important festival in Hinduism, celebrated for different reasons, occurring between mid-October and mid-November. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavirain 527 BC.

Importance

The name "Diwali" is a contraction of "Deepavali" (Sanskrit: दीपावली Dīpāvalī), which translates into "row of lamps". Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas or dīpas) in Sanskrit: दीप) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. During Diwali, celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.

Inter-Class Quiz Competition Gr 1

                               INTER- CLASS QUIZ COMPETITION

                                                GRADE – 1

Inter-class quiz competition was held for Grade-1 on Monday, 26th

September, 2011 in the school library.  There were 5 teams. Each team

comprised of 3 members representing their class. There were 4 rounds,

Where skillfully formulated questions were asked to grill the

participants. The students participated with complete gusto. Team ‘E’

was declared winner followed by team ‘D’ as 1st runner- up and team

‘A’ as 2nd runner- up. All the team members were awarded participation

certificates. The winners were awarded certificates of merit. Two

students from the audience bagged Consolation certificates for their

active participation.

HUMPTY DUMPTY POEM DRAMATIZATION NURSERY

Nursery section had their Poem enactment day for the rhyme "Humpty Dumpty" on Friday, 26th August 2011.

Three children came dressed as Humpty Dumpty, horse and soldier

respectively. Children were shown the slides of the rhyme on the computer which was followed by repeated singing of the rhyme. The children then enacted the rhyme with the teacher’s help.

Children then made a puppet of Humpty Dumpty. They enjoyed doing the sponge wash and giving features to the puppet.

In this fun filled manner, children not only learnt the rhyme but also enjoy edenacting it along with the teacher.

“Five Little Monkeys” Poem Enactment - Nursery

Poem enactments are a great way for children to express themselves. The children were ready for some monkey business on 22^nd September 2011, as we had a poem enactment on “Five little Monkeys”. They looked adorable in their “monkey”, “mummy” and “doctor” attires. This is a song that one can use anytime for the children to get up and jump. Not only that, but it is also a fun way to learn numbers unto 5; and the children had a great deal of fun learning this rhyme in an interactive way. 

PAJAMA PARTY NURSERY

“Who wears their Pajamas to school?

Me

Says who?

Lets find out!” 

When arriving at school in their favorite pair of pajamas, the students of Nursery were prepared for a day of "pajama party" entertainment on 19^th September 2011. The classroom atmosphere was cozy enough for the children to experience bedtime fun and the decorations of day and night made them curious. The children were explained the difference between day-time and night-time. Pajamas aren't just for night-time after all.

BLUE DAY PG

Blue is a Primary colour. Blue colour depicts calm and cool. A natural colour from the blue of the sky and water, blue is a universal colour.

Blue colour was introduced in Playgroup section on Friday, 26th August 2011. The class was decorated with blue colour objects like kite, balloon, ball, clock, butterfly, etc.

Hindi Diwas

  Hindi Day – 14^th September

v  Hindi is a language of harmony and understanding said Ban Ki Moon during the 8th World Hindi Conference on Hindi at United Nation headquarter in New York and surprised many by inaugurating the ceremony with Namaste! Kya Hal Chal hai?

v  September 14 is celebrated as Hindi Day and was adopted as the official language of Constituent assembly in 1949 on this day.

v  Hindi has a history behind; it belongs to Indo–Aryan branch of indo European language family. The word ‘Hindi’ itself is a gift of Persian, Mughals added to its flavour, Amir Khusro was first to write Hindi Poem.

v  This language has travelled a long distance to make its presence felt in the World. It is spoken in many parts of the world and its one of the main language in Mauritius, Surinam, Trinidad and many others including US, South Africa, New Zealand etc.

v  If it is the mother tongue of 180 million people then it is also the second language of 300 million people.

v  Statistics are available which tells that Hindi is the second most spoken language of the world.

·          Importance of hindi?

Its a national language of India. It is spoken all over India 

·          Which day is celebrated as hindi day?

Hindi day is celebrated on 14th of September and it was adopted as the Indian official language on 14th September 1949 in united nation conference in new york .they were shocked to hear the words...

MEDICAL & DENTAL CHECK UP PG & NUR

We all know that “Prevention is better than cure”. In order to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, a regular medical check up is very essential to detect problems early.

Just as the beginning of pre-school is a big step for the child, the pre-school medical check-up is also a big one. The students of Playgroup & Nursery had a thorough medical and dental examination by Dr. Purvi Mehta & Dr Viral Parikh respectively, on 8^th & 9^th September 2011.

This will serve as a personal medical record for future reference to parents as well.
