Excursion to KidZania, Primary Section WIS PB

'Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.'

Witty International School, Pawan Baug organized a fun filled excursion to KidZania, R City Mall, Ghatkopar for the students of Primary Section on Friday, 19th February 2016. The students were enthusiastic and excited to visit the Edutainment Theme Park. KidZania is a safe, unique, and interactive indoor theme park that helped Wittians to empower, inspire and educate themselves through real-life role-play activities. It is themed as a city, complete with paved roads, battery operated cars, buildings, a functioning economy and its own currency blend with excitement, entertainment and education. It provided an authentic and powerful developmental platform where our Wittians discovered, explored and learnt about the real-world.

After the entry process, each Wittian was given an entry cheque which he/she could encash for 50 Kidzos at YES BANK. Students participated in various interactive activities – the STAR TV studio, the Times Of India, Fire and Police Department, DHL, Bollywood Masala dancing, Chika’s Locker, etc.  Live performances were presented by the students in a mini theatre after being trained for it.

Wittians enjoyed branded activities like bottling Coca-Cola, working in a Crest-sponsored dentist office, McDonalds restaurant, painting with Nerolac, washing hands with P&G's Safeguard soap, using airline tickets, etc and worked in factories like PARLE-G, Dairy Milk, Chocos, Frooti, etc, where they were actually involved in the process of manufacturing and the reward for their work was the product itself. The children also spent their hard-earned Kidzos either getting a makeover at the makeup lounge, doing body art or face painting at the salon or the barber shop. It was indeed a day of fun and learning at KidZania for the students!

Wittians transferred their knowledge, skills and values that they have acquired at school and home and practised them in a safe and realistic setting.

Ride At A Height - Metro, Primary Section, WIS, Pawan Baug

Field Trip – Metro (Versova-Ghatkopar-Versova)

Students of Grade I - IV were taken for a Field Trip to Reliance Metro, Mumbai on Saturday, December 5, 2015. The journey was planned from Versova - Ghatkopar -Versova. An enthusiastic group of students and teachers were welcomed warmly by the management team and the staff members.
Students were taken through the public bridge towards the station and they were excited to see the systematic arrangements made on the 1st level.  Students were shown the ticket counter where they observed the way how commuters purchased the tickets in the form of a coin or a card and swipe it at the entrance to board the train. Students were amazed to see various stalls on the 1st level which availed the food services for the commuters. Students were taken through the same entrance and were guided to move towards the 2nd level from where they had to board the train. Students expressed their excitement by screaming ‘YEAH!!’ on the arrival of the train. The management team and staff members ensured the safety and security of the students; therefore they had arranged 2 trains for students. Grade II & III occupied few compartments in one train whereas Grade I & IV occupied compartments in another train.  Not only the compartments were reserved for the students but also special security accompanied the students and teachers to avoid the daily commuters from entering the reserved compartments.

Students were startled to see various facilities available in the train which meant to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable mode of travel to customers. Students were informed about the total number of stations between Versova to Ghatkopar. Eagerness to see and halt at next station was visible on their faces as the indicators in the train informed them about the next station each time. A ride of 40 minutes gave our students an opportunity to know and understand how Metro service is different from the Local train service.
The combination of learning through practical experience along with fun was made possible through this trip which cannot be explained within the four walls of a classroom. Through such field trips, we hope to cultivate practical learners by fuelling their innate curiosity and encouraging them to understand in a hands-on way.

The field trip was an overall success with the students’ enthusiastic response. It was an interesting, enriching and informative field trip.

Witty International School thanked the management team and the staff of Reliance Metro for providing their valuable time and for their assistance and co-operation rendered to us.

Field Trip to Parle-G Biscuit Factory, Vile Parle (East). (Primary Section, WIS- Pawan Baug)

A field trip to Parle-G Biscuit Factory at Vile Parle (East) was organized by Witty International School, Pawan Baug on Saturday, September 12, 2015 for Primary Section students of Grade I and II. An enthusiastic group of students and teachers was welcomed by the sweet aroma of fresh oven-baked biscuits.

A short film explaining the process of manufacturing biscuits and chocolates, as well as advertisements of some of the company’s products was shown. Later students were allowed to enter the plant where actual process was underway. What really captured the children’s fascination was the working of the factory. From a deck overhead, the students were able to observe the assembly line system of mixing, baking, cooling and packing. They saw the dough being baked in bulk, after which the cut biscuits were ready and packed mechanically. Towards the end, freshly baked biscuits were served and students received packets of these as take away.

The combination of learning while having fun was made possible by seeing the assembly process in person, which, like many other topics, can be explained in the four walls of a classroom, but is made so much more effective when it is accessible and experienced by the learners. Through such field trips, we hope to cultivate practical learners by fuelling their innate curiosity and encouraging them to understand in a hands-on way.

The field trip was an overall success with the students’ enthusiastic response when they understood the ‘Genius’ of Parle-G. It was an interesting, enriching and informative field trip.
