EARTHDAY CELEBRATION AT WITTY

We all lay our head and breathe in one single lap…….. The lap of mother EARTH.

To salute this lap the onset of Monday morning 23^rd April 2012, at WIS, Udaipur, Earth day was celebrated in the school premises. Wittians, through a One Act Play highlighted the importance of the day. Students also enlightened the audience regarding the treasure of three R’s…. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. To add the essence of the day, students also presented themselves as Plants, Electricity, Water and Animals, giving the message of their importance and appeal for their conservation. The Principal, Ms Shubha Govil advised the Witty family to stand hand in hand to preserve and conserve nature. She also appreciated recent decision of local authorities of keeping Fatehsagar Lake  clean and beautiful and concluded with the quote “We're sitting on our blessed Mother Earth from which we get our strength and determination, love and humility - all the beautiful attributes that we've been given. So turn to one another; love one another; respect one another; respect Mother Earth.

Witty international School was privileged to have the opportunity to promote an awareness of rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry amongst the Wittians through SPIC MACAY (Society for promotion of Indian classical Music and Culture amongst Youth).

Ms. Monisa Nayak, the renowned Kathak artist, gave a live performance of Kathak dance form to inculcate the old priceless cultural heritage of India amongst students.

Importance

In Jainism, Mahavir Janma Kalyanak is the most important religious holiday. It celebrates the birth of Mahavira, the last Tirthankara. On the Gregorian calendar, the holiday occurs either in March or April.

He was born on the thirteenth day of the rising moon of Chaitra. The chronology accepted by all Jains places Mahavir's birth in 599 BCE.

Birth Legends

Mahavira was born into royalty as the son of King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala. During pregnancy, Trishala was believed to have had a number of auspicious dreams, all signifying the coming of a great leader. The exact number of dreams differs according to the school of Jainism; Svetambaras generally believe that the actual number is fourteen while Digambaras claim sixteen instead. Regardless, the astrologers that interpreted these dreams claimed that the child would become either an emperor or a Tirthankar. It is said that when Trishala finally gave birth to Mahavira, the god-king Indra bathed the newborn himself with celestial milk, a ritual essentially marking him as a Tirthankar.

White Day PG (2011-2012)

White is the colour of purity and innocence.The little playgroup children were looking like angles dressed in pure white. The class was beautifully decorated with white colour objects on Thursday,23rd February 2012.Teacher narrated a wonderful story on the colour white, where the little baby brought moonlight as a birthday gift for  bear.

After the introduction of white colour, it was most appropriate to introduce the colour black. On Friday, 24th February 2012 all children wore black colour clothes. Even the teachers came dressed in black. The children were introduced to the beauty of black colour like the beautiful black night, etc.
