Creative Design Workshop

Witty
International School always strives towards developing critical
thinking and creativity amongst its students. All efforts are made at WIS to
enthuse and encourage students at building good decision-making strategies and promote
a sense of teamwork and cooperation, moreover, by coming together as a community
of life-long learners. Such a holistic approach does not only help the students
give their best in all
spheres of academic life but also when
given enough opportunity by way of activities it only serves as a platform
for the students to unleash their immeasurable talent and creativity.
As a conscious effort towards this
goal, Witty International School, invited The
Raffles Design International Mumbai to conduct a ‘Creative thinking Workshop’ with the students of IGCSE I to A Level, giving the students
an opportunity to explore their creativity and to build awareness towards a vocation
in creative design.
This workshop conducted by the Raffles
Design International Mumbai was without doubt a fun and interactive one. The
members of the team leading the workshop were experienced professionals from
the design industry and part of the school’s international faculty. The
workshop had many team-driven activities for the students which were innovative,
play way, fun and thought provoking. Raffles Design stood by their mantra at
every aspect of the workshop, “SEEING what everyone else has seen,
THINKING what no one else has thought, & DOING what no one else has dared!" Through their
various fun activities they encouraged the students in thinking creatively and
independently such that they can learn by discovering themselves, be open to new ideas and
be keen to work with others to explore ideas. Some of the highlights were Illustrations’
of lateral thinking, Basic principles of Creativity
& Design, Design process and some practical exercises for out-of-box
thinking.
All-in-all the workshop was time worthwhile and an
invaluable experience for the students. The workshop
was a step closer towards understanding the different arenas of creative design
such as graphic design, multimedia design, fashion design, interior design,
product design and fashion marketing. This workshop
will go a long way not only as an innovative experience for the students but
perhaps for some students to understand and make an informed career choice.
“The
best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas."— Dr. Linus
Pauling.
