FIELD
TRIP TO ‘THE DISCOVERY OF INDIA MUSEUM’
The students of Grade 7 of Witty International
School were taken on a field trip to Discovery of India Museum, Worli on
Saturday, 27th September, 2014. Nehru Museum is a cylindrical shaped
building, includes a planetarium, art gallery, restaurant, library, cultural
center and a 14-gallery exhibit called Discovery of India. There are antique
exhibits like a railway engine, tramcar, supersonic airplane and steam lorry.
It is also a venue of numerous international trade fairs and local exhibitions.
This field trip helped the children to understand and experience the true
essence of India in the most visual way.
The Discovery of India expositions have
14 galleries where permanent display of different aspects of the Indian civilization
from its very beginning, is on display. It is a showcase of India through the
ages from 2500 BC to after India got its independence. This is composite
history — where intellectual, philosophical and artistic transitions are
located and traced. Each display comes with a story, with pictures, with
installations from that time, with books, documents, often films as well as
photographs, attire and all possible records that help to connect the dots.
Each section is a beauty and needs to
be seen to be believed. The students were also shown a documentary on ‘Who are
we’ giving a message of secularism, harmony and unity in diversity. The
students enjoyed the trip immensely and had a wonderful learning experience. This
astounding jewel of history is a must-visit.
