HINDI DIWAS - SECONDARY SECTION (WIS - PAWAN BAUG)

Witty International School, Pawan Baug once again got into the exuberant extravaganza on Hindi Diwas, 14th September with vigor and enthusiasm, a fine blend of competitions and cultural activities. The whole atmosphere was electrifying as students enthusiastically participated in various competitions such as Fir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, Shabd Jaal , Tu Tu Main Main and Aur Dikhao Aur Dikhao to highlight our National language.

To mark the day chief guest Shree Ranjit  Kapoor ,a well known writer and an eminent  theatre personality   graced the occasion. Ranjit Kapoor is a writer and director, known for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) and The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey (2005).Anybody who loves theatre knows Ranjit Kapoor, the director of well-known plays such as Hum Rahe Na Hum, Woyzech and Sher Afghan. He received the Best Director Award for the production of German Classic “WOYZECK” by George Buchner.

Shree Ranjit Kapoo quoted, “Hindi is a language spoken by the heart. A language imbibes the feel of the era and tradition through which it travels.”

The programme  started  on an auspicious note with the students praising Lord Ganesha and requesting Him to grant all of us with his blessings. Hawai jahaz ka sapna  a comedy skit filled the auditorium  with peals of laughter. The stars of galaxy of Hindi poets like Surdas, Tulsidas and Kabir were remembered through the rendition of their eternal dohe and pads. A dance drama based on Kamayani depicted the dilemma of  emotions of  one young man named Manu wherein Wittians showed  their creativity  through the amazing steps of traditional dances  of  Katthak and Bharatnatyam.

As the Principal Mr.Bijo Kurian quotes,’ Importance of language needs to be stressed through  such initiatives like Hindi Diwas’. The hard work and endless striving of the Hindi  teachers Mrs. Sadhana Seth and Ms. Renu Shivpujan was evident throughout the celebration.

Roman script has invaded the creativity of Hindi speakers. To showcase  the scientific aspect  of Devnagri  script Wittians presented  a skit supported  with power point presentation which carried the information that Roman script has twenty six letters where as Devnagri script  has fifty two .Similarly Roman script has one character sounding ‘ N’ while Devnagri script has four characters  for different sounds of N .

Another skit depicting miser Sethji brought life to the entire show. Breathtaking performance was presented in form of contemporary dance  by Ritik Mehta and his group on Breathless  song by Shri Shankar Mahadevan. An icing on the cake was the dance drama on ‘Beti Bachao’ depicted very finely.The programme ended with a vote of thanks and all students paid tribute to the nation by singing the National Anthem.
