Gandhi Jayanti is
celebrated by the entire Indian nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of
the Father of our Nation – Mahatma Gandhi. Wittians celebrated Bapu’s birthday
in the Sparkle Auditorium of Witty International School, Pawan Baug on 1st October,
2015, a day prior, with great zeal, enthusiasm and patriotism.
The programme
began with a special tribute to Gandhiji. Students of Grade I and II shared
anecdotes from Gandhiji’s life. Students were given an account of how he led
our nation in the fight for freedom and sacrificed his life for social
equality. The Salt Act, Dandi March, Swadeshi
Movement, and Simon - Go Back were brought to light on stage. Students were given a deep insight into the
life and times of Mahatma Gandhi and encouraged to think about the sacrifice
of our freedom fighters, analyze the importance and understand the value of
freedom. Selected students from Grade III and IV came dressed in khadi and
cotton kurta pyjamas as a mark of Bapu’s love for khadi clothes and the nation. Students of
Grade IV came up with a medley of Bapu’s favourite songs such as Vaishnav
Jan toh.
The
excitement and confidence of the students was evident on the stage which
provided a platform to showcase their talents.
