Gandhi, also known as 'Bapu', was born on the 2nd of October in 1869, in
Porbunder, Gujrat. Gandhi Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji,
and it is celebrated all over India and many other countries. Gandhiji had a
natural love for ‘truth’ and ‘duty’. Gandhiji
was a pioneer of truth and non-violence. He started the 'Satyagraha'
(non-violence) movement for the Indian freedom struggle. He played a very
significant role in achieving independence for India from British rule. He
proved to the world that freedom can be achieved through the path of total
non-violence.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2, 1904, Lal Bahadur Shastri was
an Indian political leader who served as the second Prime Minister of the
Republic of India. Influenced by prominent Indian national leaders like Mahatma
Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, he plunged into the Indian independence movement
in early 1920s. Before becoming the Prime Minister of India, he served in a
number of other departments like the railway ministry and the home ministry. He
devoted his life for the pride and honor of the country. Shastri was regarded
as man of principles.
Students of grade I-IV shared information and gave a musical salute to the national heroes. Gandhi's favourite song, Raghupati Raghava, was also sung.
Grade V students’ dramatized anecdotes of Gandhiji’s life showing values of honesty and equality.
