FIELD TRIP TO BHAU
DAJI LAD MUSEUM
Field
trips play an important role in practical learning. On Saturday, 19th
December, 2015, a trip for the students of Grade V was organized to the Dr.
Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum (formerly the Victoria and Albert Museum).
Built in Greek Roman style, it is the oldest museum in Mumbai. It was
originally established in 1855 as a treasure house of the decorative and
industrial arts. With the patronage of many wealthy Indian businessmen and
philanthropists the foundation of the new building was laid in 1862.
The
museum enriched students with the knowledge of archeological findings, maps and
photographs depicting the history of Mumbai. Students enjoyed seeing the art
crafts depicting people of Mumbai and India, their occupation and recreation.
Hindu deity and avatar, traditional crafts of Maharashtra, clay models, silver
and copper ware and costumes.
