The 14th
Annual day function at Witty International School, Pawan Baug was an expression
of creativity and imagination portrayed by the students in accordance with the theme
“Health is Wealth” to express change and awareness towards living a healthy
lifestyle. The event was graced with the presence of well-known
gastro-intestinal surgeon Dr J. B Agarwal. The celebrations were initiated with
the Namokar Mantra followed by the Ganesh Vandana welcome
dance which left the audience spellbound. The progressive annual report was
presented in an interactive form of Witty News followed by the felicitation
ceremony to applaud the students for the meritorious achievements this year.
The story of the
14th Annual Day revolved around Yumraj, the God of Death who is very sad as he
is not able to bring even a single soul from Earth. He and his Buffalo plan to
visit Earth to examine the cause of this issue. The excellent comical timing
between Yumraj and his buffalo and their efforts to capture souls on Earth
formed the crux of the plot. The play aimed to impart a message to parents,
asking them to focus on healthy living instead of chasing stressful careers,
and struck a chord with the audience. At a time when interpersonal relationships
are under tremendous pressure, the evening focused on subjects such as stress
management, nutrition, exercise, modern medicine and more.
The show
featured a variety of Indian cultural and international dance styles ranging
across a broad spectrum of Classical, Contemporary, Bollywood, Hip-hop, Afrojazz,
Salsa, Ballet, and musical theatre styles, amongst others thus setting the
stage on fire. The innovative Paso doble and Broadway style performances took
the show to a higher level. Theme based dances by little Wittians of primary
section which included zumba dance, aerobics and gymnastic dance captivated the
guests. The vegetable fashion show, added a healthy colour to the festive
occasion and the synchronized dance movements to the foot tapping music of Malhari
enthralled the audience.
Among the most
applauded shows of the evening were the Tron dance and UV Act providing an
amazing visual impact that wowed the audience. The UV act was one of the most
magical acts, weaving it's spell through a multitude of props and visual tricks.
Theme centric, this act conveyed the importance of exercise in our lives in the
most unique and entertaining way. Present on the occasion a WIS Parent said,
"It is a wonderful experience to be here as a parent for my child’s annual
function at this school. I can imagine the effort it would have taken to put
together a show of this magnitude. But then Witty International School is known
for focusing on holistic development of students and has each year raised the
benchmark of Annual Functions."
The programme
was organised in the large open playground of the school and had over 800
students participating with 1600 parents cheering for them. Happy with the
appreciation the school has been receiving, Principal Bijo Kurian, stated,
"We believe in making our students' future ready and acknowledge that it
cannot be achieved through academics alone. Hence, we give equal weightage to
sports and performing arts as well. We organise and actively participate in
activities leading to overall development of the students. The awards and
accolades that we win are not incidental, these are an outcome of our intent
and effort." Added Managing Director and Trustee of Witty Group of
Institutions, Vinay Jain, “Education in the right environment has made Witty
International School a much sought after school in the city. The school is
equipped with state of the art learning facilities and infrastructure to match
international standards."
