Yoga is not a religion; it is a way of living that aims
towards 'a healthy mind in a healthy body'.
In 2014,
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested United Nations to celebrate June
21 as the International Yoga Day as it is the summer solistice; the longest day
of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
"Yoga
is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. This tradition is 5000
years old. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint
and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health
and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness
with ourselves, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and
creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Keeping this holistic view
in mind International Yoga day was celebrated on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at
WIS Atun Road,Bhilwara. All the staff members gathered in a hall and did
various asanas like suryanamaskar, tadasan, mayurasan, dhanurasana, pranayam
etc. It was an awesome session and
wonderful beginning of the day.
At the
end Sir Principal motivated everyone to do Yoga regularly as it builds
strength, flexibility and confidence.
