'JUST
FOR YOU DADDY’
"Any man can be
a father but it takes someone special to be a Dad." -- Anne Geddes
Father’s Day is a day
to commemorate the contributions and sacrifices that each and every father has
made to individual families and societies at large. We, the Secondary Section
of Witty International School, Pawan Baug, provide children an opportunity to
express love and respect for their fathers. The sentiment goes a long way in
strengthening father-child relationship and consequently in the emotional
development of a child.
The programme
commenced with a rendition of an inspirational song ‘You raise me up’ which thanked fathers for their unconditional love
and support in each child’s life. Father’s day is a reminder to us of how our
own fathers have provided guidance, instilled family hunting traditions and
were just plain there for us while we were growing up.
There are times when
we expect our parents to provide for our comfort at all times without realising
the selfless sacrifices that our fathers would have made to give us a
comfortable lifestyle. This message was brought out by the English skit. The
children were grateful for the efforts put in by their fathers.
A father’s love for his children is often expressed in
the sacrifices they make, whether in times of crisis or just in the everyday
choices of family life. Defining fatherly love is not easy and one way to do so
is to demonstrate the way in which a father is present in a child’s life,
helping out in physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The sharing of
time, activities, conversation and self, means a constant support that children
perceive as being enduring in their lives. ‘It’s all about you, Dad’ - a song
sung just trying to tell Dads that they deserve all the possible love, respect
and trust from their children.
Fathers have always
played a huge impact on their child’s life. While we appreciate the incredibly
big role that the fathers play in a child’s upbringing, we also know that each
father has a unique and quirky personality trait. The Hindi skit was a manifestation
of our stereotypical dads at home.
The programme was
interspersed with renditions by the students of six beautiful poems. Each of
them trying their best to explain what love a son or a daughter receives from
their dads.
The programme ended with a bang. The students displayed
a spectacular dance performance reinstating the importance of the day.
By the end of the programme there were quite a few dads
left teary eyed. The dads were truly emotional and grateful that the school had
put up such a heart rendering show which ignited all the love of a child for
their father for being with them at every step of their life.
Principal, Bijo Kurian, mentioned, “Fathers are the solid
foundation of our lives. They are the shore we swim to when our arms and legs
feel increasingly tired. They are the strength we rely on as we take our first
tentative steps into the world. On this Father’s day, it is important to recognise and
reward dads for being there, and actively teaching important life skills to
children.” Truly a Tribute to our Dads.
