My eyes can see the big sun,
My nose can smell hot cinnamon buns,
My ear can hear the big loud drum,
My tongue can taste good things yum! yum!
My hands can feel the sand, What a fun!
I like my senses, every one.
Our 5 senses allow us to enjoy the world around us- the taste of our food, the sound of music, the beauty of sunrise, the softness of a cats's fur and the fragrance of a rose.
The facilitators of pre-primary section, Witty International School, Udaipur created and gathered a multitude of games, activities and resources to help the children learn about each of the 5 senses.
To teach the sense of smell, a Nursery was made with different kind of real plants. A table was also set up for kids to sniff and tell the difference.
To tickle the taste buds, an array of sweet, sour, salty, spicy and bitter flavoured food stuff was kept with the dice game.
Children experimented with sounds through bells, wind chimes, musical instruments and enjoyed guessing the noise from the sound boxes.
For touch and feel,a texture path was set up with stones, bricks, soil, water etc. so that kids could touch, feel, investigate and tell the difference.
Seeing was so much fun and exciting with prism, kaleidoscope, magnifying glass and gelatin frames.
Learning the 5 senses was a fun lesson for the kindergarteners. The simple activities helped kids to reinforce their concept of the five senses.
