It was a red letter day in the history
of India when the country got its freedom on August 15, 1947. It took hundreds
of years for us to break shackles of slavery. The Independence Day has a great
importance in every citizen’s life. This day reminds us every year that freedom
is sacred and citizens must do everything to ensure that it shall not be
endangered. It is celebrated all over country in unity with great patriotism.
Gaiety and patriotic fervour marked
71st Independence Day Celebration at Witty International School, Pawan Baug on
Monday, 14th August’17. Wittians of Primary Section organised a cultural
programme which included speeches, beautiful dances, fashion show and puppet
show as the highlights of the celebration.
The programme took flight with the
views on the significance and effects of the day through a speech delivered by
students of Grade V. The entire auditorium was festooned with colours of the
Indian flag. To keep alive the flame of patriotism, the students performed a
spectacular patriotic welcome dance which enthralled the onlookers. Our
honourable Principal Bijo Kurian welcomed the gathering and introduced the
Guests of Honour for the day API Varsha Tawde and API Rupali Targe. Our
Principal, Bijo Kurian referred Independence Day as ‘India’s Birthday’. Through his words he conveyed the students to
follow the path shown by our historical leaders and advised the youth to work
towards liberating India from the clutches of social evils like poverty,
corruption and illiteracy. The guests of honour for the day extended the talk
further by enlightening the students about their rights and safety in today’s
world. They also explained how this day helped one to be free and enjoy the
fundamental rights bestowed on us by the Constitution of India.
Adorable puppets kept the audience
rooted during the show and helped the onlookers to glance over the struggle of
Independence. The students of choir group sang the Patriotic song – ‘Vande
Mataram’ that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our Mother Land. Not to
forget our young Wittians of Grade 1 who infused with patriotism and depicted
the rich cultural heritage of India in a very interesting way through a Fashion
show.
Towards the end, Wittians geared up
for the finale dance giving tribute to the Indian Army the backbone of our
country. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and
make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace
and unity in diversity. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks and National
Anthem. The students dispersed with the image of the fluttering Tricolor
in their minds and a smile on the face reflecting to be a proud citizen of
India.
