Journey of the Self, to the Self, through the Self
As Indians, we should prove to the
world that real knowledge has originated in our sacred land itself. The great
Maharshi Patanjali was the founder and exponent of yoga. The importance of yoga
for one’s wellbeing has been appreciated and accepted all over the world. Since
its inception in the year 2015, June 21st is celebrated as ‘The
International Day of Yoga’ all over the world.
In order to bring peace, harmony,
happiness and success to every soul; Witty International School, Pawan Baug
celebrated International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm and vigour. This day
was not only celebrated by our Primary students of Grades I to IV on Wednesday,
21st June’17 but also by our 5th Grade Wittians and their
parents on Saturday, 24th June’17.
Yoga is a mental, physical and
spiritual practise that is carried on by our students regularly as, yoga is
inculcated as a part of syllabus but it was more special for 5th
Graders as this celebration gave them an opportunity to be along with their
parents. The celebration took flight with a prayer followed by a speech giving
away the importance of yoga for the wellbeing of the individual and society.
This was followed by a yoga session for the students and the parents, who
performed Pranayama, various asanas and Surya Namaskara. The slokas chanted in
between the asanas helped to create a spiritual atmosphere. Different yoga
postures like Vrikshasana, Uttaanaasana, Trikonaasana, Bhadrasana,
Shashankaasana, Bhujangasana, Pawana Muktaasana, etc were experienced by the
audience.
We had an eminent personality amongst
us, Mrs. Vaibhavlaxmi Jhala, who addressed the audience expressing her views
about the benefits of Yoga, how it gives unity of mind and body, thought and
action, restraint between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and
well-being. Our yoga teacher/instructor, Ms.Pooja Gupta told the gathering that
yoga is much more than a physical exercise and it enables people to access a
new dimension of self. The message was profoundly conveyed as students
understood that yoga is something worth investing their time and energy in.
