National Dictionary Day is observed annually on October 16.
The objective of this day is to emphasize
the importance of dictionary skills, and seeks to improve vocabulary. It is
considered in honour of Noah Webster, who is considered the Father of the
American Dictionary. Students
of Grade VI and VII observed this day by playing various games based on word
building and vocabulary building. They
also laid emphasis on the advantages of dictionary and motivated everyone to
use dictionary as its use improves our pronunciation, spelling, grammar,
vocabulary etc.
