Janmashtami also
known as Gokulashtami marks the celebration of the birth of Lord Sri Krishna.
Sri Krishna was born to King Vasudeva and Devaki Devi on the eighth day of the
dark fortnight in the month of Sravana. Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna, one
of the reincarnations of Lord Vishnu born in the Dwapar Yug. The festival is
celebrated throughout the country with immense zeal. Colorful Pandals and
temples decorated with beautiful idols of Krishna make the festival look like a
beautiful celebration of joy all over the world.
On
Friday August 31st,2018 Pre-Primary at Witty International School, Udaipur celebrated
Janmashtami.
Children were at their best, wearing
traditional attire to celebrate the day with gaiety. The
little ones presented a skit on the birth of Lord Krishna and the traditional classic tale of his youthful days. They
enacted the roles of Lord Krishna, Kansa , Nandlal and Yashoda mayya peeping
into the past days of his life. Sri Krishna as Nathkhat Makhanchor stole the hearts of everyone. Children also enjoyed doing
Lord Krishna’s worksheet and the most fun and frolic awaited event- “Dahi-Handi
activity marked the occasion. The little kanhaiyas and gopis danced on the
tunes of devotional songs of Lord Krishna.
This event brought awareness among the
children about traditional customs while enjoying the various activities of
Lord Krishna. Children also learnt the teachings for humanity as Lord Krishna
always emphasized on justice and truth and fought against evil.
The festive attire and
the energetic Janamashtami music swayed all of us into an environment which
made us feel the presence of the Lord Almighty amongst us. It was a
memorable day for everyone.
