Leadership is
not about the next election, it's about the next generation. .
One of
the great challenges of all democracies is to get their citizens involved in
the political system. Declining turnout and increasing indifference is haunting
old as well as newer democracies. Obviously, the school is an important arena
for equipping younger people with both knowledge and engagement that could
benefit the political system.
Thursday,
April 11,2019 was Election Day at Witty International School. The students had
to vote for a new Head Girl, Head Boy, Sports Captain and Cultural secretary.
The candidates
campaigned with a lot of enthusiasm during long and short breaks. They prepared
attractive symbols which represented them. All the candidates promoted peaceful
values, showing their willingness to contribute to improve the life of their
fellows during the school year.
For the
first time an electronic voting system was introduced in Witty. The proposed
model had a greater security and was less time consuming.
On the
morning of the elections the IT lab at Witty was converted into a polling
station, around 10 students could cast their vote at one go.
The
votes were automatically counted and Palash Choudhary became the Head Boy, Minal Jain, the head girl, Pratham Jain, Sports Captain and Niket Jain was
declared the cultural Secretary. The students’
council will soon assume their term duties. They will be assisted by the
teachers.
The
second phase of elections marked the election of the Captains and the Vice-
Captains of the four Houses.
The
Principal of the School Mrs Abha Mittal
congratulated the students' council for their future endeavours. She motivated
and encouraged the candidates who couldn’t make it. She appreciated the eco
friendly system of polling and enlightened the students of its advantages.
