YOGA DAY CELEBRATIONS AT WITTY INTERNATIONAL
SCHOOL 2019
"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the
self." -- The Bhagavad Gita ". Keeping this in mind, Witty
International School celebrated International Day of Yoga on June 21st, 2019, in
the school premises. This auspicious day
was celebrated by the students and teachers with great enthusiasm.
Special yoga sessions
of forty-five minutes each, across all the grades from VI to VIII were conducted,
in which the objectives of World Yoga Day were discussed among the students.
The yoga gurus, Mrs. Shital
Bhatt and Mr. Liyakat Ali
Lambe were called to do the honours. Mrs.
Shital Bhatt, a yoga and fitness trainer is a NIS in yoga
with an experience of 17 years in yoga and fitness industry. Along with her, we had Mr. Liyakat Ali Lambe
who is a founder of Attivo Sports and Fitness, and Mr. Hitesh Amarseda who has been a great source of inspiration for students in the
field of yoga.We also had the privilege of calling Maharshi Patanjali Yoga Mandal which has been formed with the objective of spreading our ‘ancient Sanskriti and values’ of yoga and Kriyayog propounded by Maharshi Patanjali.
Mrs. Shital Bhatt mentioned, "Yoga is a
tool that will help one do better in the education race as well because one has
to understand that nobody can achieve anything without the support of a healthy
heart, body and pure soul. It brings inner balance, sharper intellect and
better focus. So, regular practice of yoga will surely help our
students to achieve a better life; physically, mentally and spiritually."
During these sessions, all these gurus
had one thing to demonstrate and that was how to inhale the future, and exhale
the past, through various asanas to
the students, which was then followed by Omkar chanting. Warm up exercises were
taken up and all the students performed sitting and standing asanas. The importances
of these were explained simultaneously. The celebration concluded with a synchronized
recitation of shlokas .
As quoted by our
Principal Mr. Bijo Kurian "Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual
practice or discipline which dates back to Pre-Vedic Indian traditions. As yoga
has techniques of controlling the body and the mind, it becomes a disciplined
method for students. Such sessions help the students to improve concentration,
to alleviate health problems and reduce stress."
Hence it is rightly stated, "Yoga shows one the path to
overcome Anguish, Fear, Loneliness and Illness and move towards the path of
Happiness."
