‘National Junk Food
Day’ - a day to indulge in all your junk food cravings! It is very difficult to
resist junk food as we all find them very yummy. Not to forget that the good
taste is because of high amounts sugar, fat and salt. It can be
especially difficult to get children to choose fruits, vegetables and whole
grains when they constantly see advertisements pushing sugary products and
empty-calorie foods.
At
Witty International School we encourage healthy growth of the students for
which healthy eating habits are important. In today’s world of junk
food, it’s important to give the young generation options to make healthy
versions of their favourite junk foods so as to entice them to enjoy a little
and eat junk the healthy way. Students of Grade 3 (ICSE) celebrated
National Junk Food Day on Saturday 18th July 2020. Our little chefs
were very excited to experiment their culinary skills. They enthusiastically
prepared healthy Monaco bites using cheese, tomato, cucumber, cottage cheese,
sev as toppings. The activity highlighted the fact that healthy food can also
be lip-smacking as junk food.
