While 2020 have rued schools by its major ripple effects of the pandemic on sports and music industry, Witty International School, PawanBaug, Malad (West) still strivesin accuracy of an age-old familiarity with athletics and systematic physical training that can be traced back to Homer’s Iliad. Just like sports, a piece of beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents given to us by God.
People may have receded deep into their memory of once lived in another land of freedom and movement, laughter and singing, listening to their most soothing music in each other's living rooms, doing workouts from the dropping of the veils of the morning to purple aglow and evenings full of linnets singing, measuring no social distancing, and no devastating disease smiting them; Witty still possesses an idea of athletic prowess and mellifluous music that goes right to the heart of what constitutes an upstanding, admirable, well-educated, disciplined and capable Wittian, through its online webinars on music for grade VII and sports for grade VI.
Both of these Webinars, prouder to say were formatted by in-house teachers. Their vast knowledge and expertise, their high motivation, and skill have made Wittians participate in many inter-school competitions and have made them lauded forever.
Once again their value cannot be undermined as their teaching enabled the students to relax, gave them vigour and fresh energy, boosted their learning process, especially, when our children are locked down and overburdened. All in all, these webinars will have a soothing effect on the students when these will be taken up regularly. It will make them physically alive and healthy.
Ms.Sharma, taught Alankars to students and explained the importance of Alankars in Indian Classical Music. According to the music teacher, application of Alankar is essential to embellish the inherent beauty of the genre. This was followed by a foot tapping English number ‘Come Together’ which is a motivational song. Students were taught the lyrics of the song and all joined in. The session captivated the attention of the students and they enjoyed every minute of it. It was wonderfully expressive.
Mr.Bijo Kurian, the Principal, and the guiding force quoted, “Sports and Music should behigh up on the priority list of ‘things to open up’. If the wheels are not set back in motion soon, the impact is going to be huge. To acquire a great deal of self-control, physical and mental health, music and sports should be taken up regularly. They help usto accept victory over every defeat gracefully.”
