Republic Day Programme, IGCSE Secondary Section (2020-21), WIS, PB

 Virtual Republic Day Celebration

January 26 carries sentimental significance for our country. On 26th January 1950, India came into existence as a Republic. And ever since then January 26 is celebrated as Republic Day every year. It is a great celebration and a moment of pride for the whole nation. The day reminds us about all the fundamental rights and privileges the country has offered us.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Witty International School, Pawan Baug, Malad (West) decided to organise and celebrate Republic Day virtually. Wittians from six clubs worked in unison. These students were assigned different tasks. Many cultural events like patriotic songs, dances, skit, poems, and speeches were taken up and it was a grand success.

The event was marked with hoisting of the Tricolour on the stage of the school. The programme then continued by paying tribute to India. Symphony Music Club captivated everyone with their spectacular patriotic songs, while Spotlight Theatre Club performed an eye-opening skit to show unity in diversity and the rich cultural heritage that India has for a very long time. ROFL Comedy Club members gave a great time to the students. Some of the incredibly charismatic dancers from Infinity Dance club tapped on the most patriotic numbers. Midst of all the colourful and culturally rich tableaus were the inspiring speeches and poems of the Literati English Club. These speeches gave deep insights to the students and teachers.

Though this year’s Republic Day celebration had been virtual but was certainly different as the students sat back and watched the whole show with their families at home. The Nationalistic and Patriotic feeling was in the air as this historic event was commemorated with great enthusiasm and patriotism.
