“If we are to teach real peace in this world…we shall have to begin with the children.”
Mahatma Gandhi or more lovingly
known as Bapu by all Indians is internationally acknowledged for his doctrine
of non-violence. 2nd October every year is celebrated as Gandhi
Jayanti. The story of his life has impacted humanity to its core.
To revere this day, the students of
Witty International School- ICSE organised various virtual activities to
commemorate the Mahatma’s life and teachings. The students of Grade 6, 7 &
8 presented a mime act, portrayed beautiful posters and exhibited beautiful
values relating to Gandhiji’s three wise monkeys to depict the importance of
peace and harmony.
Wittians of Grade 3, 4 and 5 made a
sincere attempt to pay homage to the great freedom fighters Mahatma Gandhi and
Lal Bahadur Shastri. The programme started with the school prayer followed by
speeches, information on the life of Gandhiji and a skit. "Vaishnava Jana
To Tene Kahiye Je" a melodious vocal performance filled the ambience with
gratitude.
The splendid virtual event concluded
with the Wittians emphasizing on non-violence with the thought “Anger is the
enemy of non-violence and pride is a monster that swallows it up”.
