SPARKLE – A Talent Hunt

It is our constant endeavour to encourage children to think creatively and bring out the best in them. Witty International School, Pawan Baug organized SPARKLE – A Talent Hunt for the students of Primary Section (Grade I - IV) on Friday, 6^th November, 2015. Students got a platform to show off their natural ability and creative talent.

All the students came in party dress and participated enthusiastically in their respective event categories like Twist and Turn, Spice It Up, Dare Your Talent, Destination Search and Click, Drag and Paint, Melodious Wittians and Look Alike. Origami was a compulsory category for all the students. Maximum participation was observed in Spice It Up where students displayed young culinary talent by making healthy bhels and sandwiches.

Students were very well prepared and confident to face the judges while displaying the uniqueness possessed by them. The judges enjoyed seeing the innovation and spirit of the participants and had a tough time in selecting the winners in each category.

The event concluded gracefully with lots of fun and enjoyment. Snacks were served to the students. The event helped students to develop their skills like self confidence, leadership, responsibility, cooperation and understanding. All the students were given participation certificates for their enrollment in various events and the winners in each category will be awarded with commendation certificates. The day ended well by dancing on the music beats and with loud greetings of ‘HAPPY DIWALI’.

HINDI DIWAS – DARPAN 2015. (PRIMARY SECTION - WIS PAWAN BAUG)

The Constituent Assembly of India had declared Hindi as India’s official language on 14^th September 1949. Since then, the day is celebrated as “Hindi Diwas”.

Primary Section (Grade I - IV) students of Witty International School, Pawan Baug celebrated Hindi Diwas - DARPAN 2015 for two days as a mark of acknowledgement with great splendour and fervour. DARPAN helped Wittians to understand the importance and respect for our mother tongue by participating in various competitions held on 14^th September 2015.

Students from Grade I – IV participated enthusiastically in various competitions like Handwriting, News Anchoring, Singing, Mono Acting, Designing a front cover page for the school diary and Story-telling. All the competitions organised were based on the theme of the year- Health is Wealth. All the students received Participation Certificates. Winners shall be awarded Achievement Certificates during the Assembly.

Same enthusiasm was reflected by our Wittians on 15^th September 2015 who hosted a Cultural Programme in the Sparkle Auditorium of the school by displaying their talents. The programme began with a divine dance performance on Bappa Morya. Students of Grade II presented a skit on Paryawaran and Pradushan (Environment and Pollution). A beautiful poem on “Sankrit ki ladli beti hai yeh Hindi” was recited by the students. The programme concluded with Sare Jahan Se Achha and National Anthem.

The effort put in by the Wittians was appreciated and the memories of the successful event DARPAN – 2015 will always be cherished.

HINDI DIWAS - SECONDARY SECTION (WIS - PAWAN BAUG)

Hindi  Hain  Hum, Vatan hae Hindustan  Hamara

Witty International School, Pawan Baug once again got into the exuberant extravaganza on Hindi Diwas, 14th September with vigor and enthusiasm, a fine blend of competitions and cultural activities. The whole atmosphere was electrifying as students enthusiastically participated in various competitions such as Fir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, Shabd Jaal , Tu Tu Main Main and Aur Dikhao Aur Dikhao to highlight our National language.

To mark the day chief guest Shree Ranjit  Kapoor ,a well known writer and an eminent  theatre personality   graced the occasion. Ranjit Kapoor is a writer and director, known for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) and The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey (2005).Anybody who loves theatre knows Ranjit Kapoor, the director of well-known plays such as Hum Rahe Na Hum, Woyzech and Sher Afghan. He received the Best Director Award for the production of German Classic “WOYZECK” by George Buchner.

Shree Ranjit Kapoo quoted, “Hindi is a language spoken by the heart. A language imbibes the feel of the era and tradition through which it travels.”

The programme  started  on an auspicious note with the students praising Lord Ganesha and requesting Him to grant all of us with his blessings. Hawai jahaz ka sapna  a comedy skit filled the auditorium  with peals of laughter. The stars of galaxy of Hindi poets like Surdas, Tulsidas and Kabir were remembered through the rendition of their eternal dohe and pads. A dance drama based on Kamayani depicted the dilemma of  emotions of  one young man named Manu wherein Wittians showed  their creativity  through the amazing steps of traditional dances  of  Katthak and Bharatnatyam.

As the Principal Mr.Bijo Kurian quotes,’ Importance of language needs to be stressed through  such initiatives like Hindi Diwas’. The hard work and endless striving of the Hindi  teachers Mrs. Sadhana Seth and Ms. Renu Shivpujan was evident throughout the celebration.

Roman script has invaded the creativity of Hindi speakers. To showcase  the scientific aspect  of Devnagri  script Wittians presented  a skit supported  with power point presentation which carried the information that Roman script has twenty six letters where as Devnagri script  has fifty two .Similarly Roman script has one character sounding ‘ N’ while Devnagri script has four characters  for different sounds of N .

Another skit depicting miser Sethji brought life to the entire show. Breathtaking performance was presented in form of contemporary dance  by Ritik Mehta and his group on Breathless  song by Shri Shankar Mahadevan. An icing on the cake was the dance drama on ‘Beti Bachao’ depicted very finely.The programme ended with a vote of thanks and all students paid tribute to the nation by singing the National Anthem.

Torchbearers of Witty International School

Witty International School, Pawan Baug bestowed upon its students the ability to be the future leaders of the world in a spellbinding Investiture ceremony held on 13^th August, 2015. The captivating event was presided over by the Principal, Mr. Bijo Kurian. Being the most awaited event for the students it was held with the highest degree of earnestness, passion and rectitude.

Witty International School believes in the overall development of a student and keeping up with this philosophy the Investiture ceremony denoted the trust and confidence we repose in newly invested office bearers for the involvement of the students’ community in the daily functioning of the school. The unique process of oath taking ceremony in a democratic set up was aesthetically followed to make every student aware of their rights and duties in the School. The Principal steered the oath taking ceremony of the Head Boy, Head girl, Sports Captain and House Captains in a very fervent manner and pinned their badges. The members of the council signed the Student Council Register owning up to all the responsibilities which the position demands. House Vice-Captains and Prefects were then called and their solemn oath was led by the Head Girl wherein the newly elected student council took an oath in front of the whole school to be true to their posts and duties assigned to them. The Principal then pinned their badges. The new Head Boy, Raqshit Suvarna, Head Girl, Vidisha Jain and Sports Captain Siddharth Thakkar promised a definite change for the better tomorrow with great conviction in their confident speeches. They also shared their thoughts on taking this esteemed responsibility and the unique initiatives they aim to undertake this academic year. The Principal, Mr. Bijo Kurian congratulated the new council team and guided them into the arena of leadership with his inspiring words; “If you learn to grow with others only then you become a true leader. Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions. As Council members the experience that you gain in Student leadership – dealing with school management, dealing with your peers and juniors, organizing events and representing our School will be great training and experience for your future leadership roles in life.”

 Students showed their inspired self through their sincere approach towards discharging of their duties. The event reinstated the faith and the calibre in the leadership of the future generation. The observance was conducted with utmost zeal and gusto. The newly elected council members radiated with joy and exuberance. The event ended on a note of positivity and willingness, with the Student Council promising to do their best in whichever way they can. They were ready to encounter the challenges that would come on their way and would work upon their weaknesses as well. In this way, the Investiture ceremony concluded with lot of hopes and aspirations for our future leaders. The momentous ceremony ended with the school choir’s rendition of the National Anthem. Smiling and jubilant, the Student Council marched ahead to take on their new office.

Start up India, Stand up India

As Patriotic fervour swept the nation on 15^th August, this year Witty International School, Pawan Baug, celebrated the 69^th Independence Day of our nation with great pride and zeal. Lieutenant Colonel Rakesh Kumar from the Indian Army who was the guest of Honour for this auspicious day commemorated the sovereignty of our nation by unfurling the Tricolor flag as all sang the National Anthem in unison and expressed the joy of freedom. The WIS Band did a wonderful job, playing the martial tunes which added a lot of colour to the entire show.

After the national flag hoisting ceremony, students moved towards the Sparkle auditorium to celebrate the day. The programme commenced with the Welcome Speech by the Head Girl. Further, seeking the blessings of God on this auspicious occasion, a classical and soulful dance “Ganesh Vandana” was performed by the Wittians. This was followed by the Principal’s speech which referred to the central role of the youth today in India’s development plans, saying that children alone will take India to newer heights. Principal, Mr. Bijo Kurian stated, “Children are the wealth and the hope of the nation who will lead the country and make it a great nation of the world. But is our patriotic spirit just a – One Day Mataram? With social media all pervasive, one wonders whether patriotic feelings these days are confined to just messages posted and photos shared on social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We need to keep the patriotic spirit forever ignited in our hearts and contribute towards the progress of our Nation.” The Principal then felicitated the chief guest Lt. Colonel Rakesh Kumar, who also addressed the students and quoted, “We are fortunate enough to be born in Independent India but history reveals how our ancestors and forefathers suffered in the brutal rule of Britishers. We have to grow up as responsible citizens, and contribute to our level best for the growth and development of our motherland India. Let us take a pledge in this 69th Independence day that we will respect our Independence and will always keep our National flag flying high.” The speeches revived the feeling of patriotism in the students.

This was followed by a cultural programme which began with a beautiful medley of patriotic songs which culminated to a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, at which point many in the audience joined in. Wittians then presented a wonderful and unique musical dramatisation of the struggle for Independence of India from the British. The dramatization encompassed a vibrant display of events from pre independence to post independence and future, interspersed with music and brilliant display on what India has accomplished so far and challenges we face. Further a Hindi Skit “Ab to Jag Jao” was performed emphasizing the importance of “Swachh Bharat and Atithi Devo Bhava.”

Moving on was a Mime Act depicting the unity in diversity of our country and a mesmerising dance paying homage to the nation. The ‘Grand Finale’ included a dance sequence paying tribute to the great Mahatma. The cultural programmes presented India’s present challenges, pointing out that terrorism, extremism, communalism and fundamentalism has emerged as the greatest threats to the unity and integrity of the country. The message of the programme revolved around measures we can take to uproot the social evils which have crippled our country. Thus at Witty International School it was a great day and a proud moment for every Wittian, as everyone took pride to be an Indian.
