From Web to Webbed - Cyber Crime Awareness by Secondary Section at WIS, Pawan Baug (2020-21)

Technology is everywhere and has converted the world into a global village. It has revolutionized the way we communicate in our personal and professional lives. Teenagers stare down at their iPhones, or keep their eyes glued to a tablet or laptop, instead of observing the world around them. It's not unusual to see two adolescents travelling together, yet texting furiously on their mobiles rather than talking to each other.

Today, everyone’s exposure to the internet has increased manifold which makes them highly vulnerable to cybercrimes. It is evident that if children are not made aware of methods which cybercriminals use for cybercrime, children will fall a prey.

To educate and enlighten the students, Witty International School had organized a seminar on Cyber Crime Awareness on the 27th of June for the students from Grade VII- A level.

The guest, Commander Kaushal. K. Chaudhary, Retired Indian Naval Officer, from ‘WeSeSo’ [We Secure Society] organization enlightened students of the illegal activities that take place online, including fraud, spam, identity theft, phishing, computer viruses and worms, cyber stalking, drug trafficking, spoofing and much more. He shared anecdotes and bitter experiences of people who became victims to such crimes. Furthermore, Mr. Chaudhary gave a detailed explanation on how one can take precautionary measures to stay safe.

Children are tech savvy, but it exposes them to a number of risks. It’s the duty of the parents to help keep their children safe by monitoring their online activities and minimizing the use of social media.

It was an extremely informative and effective session which kids thoroughly enjoyed and gained knowledge beyond expectations. The webinar ended with an extremely interactive question and answer session.

International Yoga Day Celebrated by Secondary Section at WIS, Pawan Baug (2020-21)

Revive The Spirit !!!!

“One cannot always control what goes on outside, but one can control what goes on inside.”

June 21st is celebrated as ‘The International Day of Yoga’ all over the world. This idea was proposed by our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in wellbeing.

Witty International School took the initiative of organizing one such live Facebook Webinar on Yoga for the students of grades VI to IGCSE I on the 20th June. Ms Navmeet Kaur Ajmani, a well-known yoga trainer, associated with Pinkathon started the session with warm up exercises followed by the Omkar mantra.  Various asanas such as Garudasana, Chakrasana, Vrikshasana and Trikonasana were demonstrated and benefits of these asanas were explained. Lighter exercises related to the eyes, nose, jaws, shoulder blades and hips were also taught. The celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of shlokas.

Principal Bijo Kurian encouraged students to practice the Asanas regularly to remain fit and improve concentration. He commented, “Yoga plays a significant role especially during the world crisis of Covid -19 as yoga boosts our immunity and is known to cure respiratory disorders.”

Regular practice of yoga will surely help our students achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Webinar on Career Counselling and life skills for the students of Grade IX & X held on Saturday, May 30,2020.

“Dreams are extremely important. You can’t do it unless you imagine it.”

To best utilize the time made available during the lockdown period, Witty International School, Atun Road, Bhilwara organized a webinar for the students of Grade IX & X to motivate the students and give them top notch career counselling .

The webinar was addressed by Mr Rajan Arora, who is an energetic and socially aware soft-skills and behavioural trainer and facilitator, Managing Director of Triumph Through Training Pvt. Ltd. This was a very productive session and students got some valuable advice regarding the future prospects.

During the webinar, Mr Rajan Arora highlighted the importance of giving freedom to the students to choose their own career paths. He said, “One of the most important metrics that define success is the dedication with which an individual pursues their goals. When students are allowed to follow a career path of their choice, they are naturally more invested in it- to the extent where their chosen profession is not just a means to an end but a way of life itself. Since they feel much more contended in a profession of their own choosing, they feel motivated and inspired to get even better.”

Regarding the significance of conducting webinars during the lockdown, Principal, Mrs. Abha Mittal said, “It is tough time that we’re going through and we believe it is our responsibility to take care of our students. Children are the future of our society and their careers cannot be squandered away. We have vowed to leave no stone unturned to ensure that we reach out to our dear students in every manner possible and help them in every way we can. The digitalization and advancement in technology has come as a boon to us, and we’re hoping to convene more sessions like this one to support our students during the lockdown and help them secure their future.”
