Wittians, Udaipur groom themselves in Martial Arts

Witty International School always encourages children to become independent and self confident. We always try to provide our children with a wide exposure to academic as well as non academic learning – class activities, cultural activities, literary activities, games and sports, field trips and excursions, and much more.

Keeping in tune with our mission to groom our children into independent and self confident individuals, we have introduced a Martial Art programme (Karate) that provides self defense as a compulsory education for students of Grade V- IX.

The purpose of introducing Karate is multifaceted. Through the art of self defense, students acquire a variety of skills which are not always available through routine physical education. In addition to building strength, coordination and balance, Martial Arts instill self-confidence, patience, and self discipline. Educational Institutions around the world are adopting martial arts training courses because it has been proven that students proficient in martial arts also show measurable improvements in other academic disciplines.

Sports Day – Synergizing indeed

Witty International School celebrated its 9th Annual Athletic Meet, ‘Synergy’ 2010 – 11 from 29th November – 2nd December at the Goregaon Sports Club.

On 30th November, 1st December and 2nd December sports activities of the Secondary, Primary and Pre-primary sections were held respectively. For the primary and the secondary sections, there were a plethora of fun races such as the potato race, lemon and spoon race, tug – of – war, balancing the book race etc. For the pre – primary section, obstacle and child – parent races were held. Events like the handball and the cricket match by the secondary section turned out to be crowd pullers. The four day event provided a platform for all the students to display their innate potential and skills.

The winners were awarded certificates and medals and the rest of the students were given a ‘Participation Certificate’ each. The winning handball and cricket teams were awarded trophies. With spirits cooling down and physiques getting weary, the Athletic Meet consequently drew to a close with a Vote of Thanks followed by the National Anthem.

It can be rightly stated that the school succeeded in kindling the flame of sportsmanship and team spirit among students and it hopes that in due course, Wittians would occupy a significant place in the sporting domain thus bringing laurels to the country at large.

Synergy Opening Ceremony - An evening of Blissful Spell

In conformity with this age old proverb ‘Witty International School’ believes in the inculcation of sports and other co-curricular activities as an integral part of the curriculum. It strives to provide students with a platform for an all-round personality development.

The school celebrated its 9th Annual Athletic Meet, ‘Synergy’ 2010 – 11 from 29th November – 2nd December at the Goregaon Sports Club.

The vast lawn area was divided into four pavilions based on the four school houses namely – Ruby (Red), Emerald (Green), Sapphire (Blue) and Topaz (Yellow). The theme for this year was ‘Life is Beautiful’. This year too, the traditional fervour and enthusiasm among parents and students was at its peak. It was the first time that Synergy had such a grand opening ceremony amidst a spectacular laser show and fireworks. Students from playgroup, kindergarten, primary and secondary sections were a part of this magnificent action packed event.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Rajesh Athaide, CMD, St Angelo’s Computers Ltd. The captains of the four houses presented him with the traditional Guard of Honour. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Anuj Chatterjee, a stalwart from the sporting arena. Dr. Vinay Jain, Managing Trustee and Mr. Bijo Kurian, Principal of the school addressed the guests and commented on the importance of sports in one’s life. The parents of the students took an active part and compared the show.

The mega event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial torch and releasing of balloons by the Chief Guest. Thereafter the oath taking ceremony was held. The parade of the student’s band brought a lot of rhythm and pomp to the show. The highlight of the event was the March Past with strength of more than 1450 students. This was followed by various performances such as ‘Roman Rings’ ‘Dumbbells’ ‘Musical Yoga’ ‘Ribbon Drill’ ‘Gymnastics’ ‘Lezim’ ‘Aerobics’ ‘Judo’ to name a few. The entire event was displayed on LED screens. Adhering to the theme, ‘Life is Beautiful’ the laser show started with the creation of a fairytale – like atmosphere with changing colour patterns and flowing figures. Each movement had been synchronized to perfection.

It was indeed an evening of Blissful Spell.
