The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) succeeded the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) as the U.S. government agency most responsible for advancing flight-related technology. Established on October 1, 1958, with the passage of the National Aeronautics and Space Act, signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 29, 1958, NASA added the development of space technology to the NACA's aeronautics mission.
The most significant NASA achievement during its early years involved the human exploration of the Moon. Project Apollo became a NASA priority on May 25 1961, when President John F. Kennedy announced, "I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth." Kennedy used Apollo as a high-profile effort for the United States to demonstrate its scientific and technological superiority over the Soviet Union, its cold war adversary.
In October 1968, the first successful Apollo mission, Apollo 7, orbited Earth and tested the redesigned Apollo command module. Apollo 8 was the first satellite to orbit the Moon. But it was Neil Armstrong's step onto the Moon's surface on July 20, 1969, that fulfilled President Kennedy's challenge. Armstrong's words: "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind" are imprinted on the memories of most Americans who were alive at the time. After taking soil samples, photographs, planting the American flag, and leaving behind a plaque marking their visit, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin rendezvoused with their colleague Michael Collins in lunar orbit for a safe return to Earth.

Machu Picchu Discover

A Brief Overview on Machu Picchu Discover

On July 24, 1911, American archeologist Hiram Bingham gets his first look at Machu Picchu, an ancient Inca settlement in Peru that is now one of the world's top tourist destinations.

Tucked away in the rocky countryside northwest of Cuzco, Machu Picchu is believed to have been a summer retreat for Inca leaders, whose civilization was virtually wiped out by Spanish invaders in the 16th century. For hundreds of years afterwards, its existence was a secret known only to the peasants living in the region. That all changed in the summer of 1911, when Bingham arrived with a small team of explorers to search for the famous "lost" cities of the Incas.

Traveling on foot and by mule, Bingham and his team made their way from Cuzco into the Urubamba Valley, where a local farmer told them of some ruins located at the top of a nearby mountain. The farmer called the mountain Machu Picchu, which meant "Old Peak" in the native Quechua language. The next day July 24 after a tough climb to the mountain's ridge in cold and drizzly weather, Bingham met a small group of peasants who showed him the rest of the way. Led by an 11-year-old boy, Bingham got his first glimpse of the intricate network of stone terraces marking the entrance to Machu Picchu.

The excited Bingham spread the word about his discovery in a best-selling book, sending hordes of eager tourists flocking to Peru to follow in his footsteps up the Inca trail. The site itself stretches an impressive five miles, with over 3,000 stone steps linking its many different levels. Today, more than 300,000 people tramp through Machu Picchu every year, braving crowds and landslides to see the sun set over the towering stone monuments of the "Sacred City" and marvel at the mysterious splendor of one of the world's most famous man-made wonders.

Good parents give their children Roots and Wings. Roots to know where home is, wings to fly away and exercise what? Is been taught them.

Parent's day is celebrated on 4th Sunday of every July. This day is marked by grand celebration. It is a day for the children to make their parents feel that how grateful they are for having such lovely parents. Children take effort to thank their great parenting, which has shaped up their life in such a beautiful way. On Parents Day, they try to adopt every method in which they can make their parents feel special and convey their hearts feeling.

Parent's Day does not have a centuries-old history. Talking about the origin of the day, it was formulated in 1994, by US President Bill Clinton, in his presidential term in White House. He realized that there was a Mother's Day that was celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year and also a Father's Day that was celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year. However, there still existed a void among people. There was no day which commemorated the efforts of both the parents together. It was then that Parent's Day took shape. He signed into law a resolution that was cohesively adopted by US Congress also.

When U feel U R alone in the Crowd,
When U Think No 1 can Understand U,
When UR love is rejected by others,
& when U hate UR Life,
Just Close UR eyes, & see,
Her face who Loves U
Happy Parent’s  day

The Real Failure

The only real failure is failing to learn from failure.

There is a story of a young reporter who was commissioned to interview an old and successful businessman.

`Sir,' he asked politely, `what has been the secret of your success?'

The older man leaned back on his leather swivel chair, behind his shining mahogany desk, and replied, `Two words, son, two words: right decisions.'

The reporter wrote it down. Then he asked another question. `And how do you learn how to make right decisions, sir?' he asked.

The successful business man leaned back further and replied, `One word, son, one word: experience.'

The reporter wrote this down, too, and then asked, `Well, sir, how do you acquire experience?'

The older man leaned forward over his desk and whispered conspiratorially, `Two words, son, two words: wrong decisions!'

The only real failure is failing to learn from failure.

National Ice cream day

You scream, I scream, we all scream for - that's right - ice cream!

Meaning of ice cream day

Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984. He also appointed the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day. Reagan recognized the popularity of ice cream in the United States (90% of the nation's population consumes ice cream) and stated that these two events should be observed with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."

I like ice cream. Yes I do!
One scoop for me?
No! Make it two!
Hmmm two
scoops of ice cream,
I want more
How about three?
No, make that four!
1, 2, 3, 4,
Splat! "Oh no! It's on the floor!"

Happy Guru Purnima

"Who is God? It is the Guru who is God." - Dr. Pillai

The word 'Guru' means remover of darkness (In Sanskrit, “Gu" means darkness, "Ru" means remover). Thus, Guru Purnima is the day of eradicating ignorance and illuminating our lives with knowledge. On this day, Guru can inspire us to overcome our limitations and conjure a life of wonderful possibilities.

Guru Purnima, or the Full Moon of the Guru, is celebrated in the month of Ashadha (July-August). This day is significant for disciples who seek to get initiated by their Guru, students who desire to get the blessings of their teachers, and for everyone who wants to honor persons of great wisdom and learning. This is a rare time to solve unsolved problems.

In this whole world each and every human being is thought by someone that we call "Teacher". Mother is known as first teacher of a child from his/her birth. She teaches her child about social things like how to eat, how to talk and how to respect others. After a certain age children also need behavioral and cultural knowledge to grow-up in this world. For that kind of knowledge he /she need a teacher – a person who shows the path of success.

The Guru is considered an embodiment of the archetypes Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. As per a Vedic saying, Guru's form is the basis of meditation, Guru's feet are the basis of worship, Guru's words are the basis of mantra (sacred sound), and Guru's grace is the basis of enlightenment.
