Importance of Christmas

Importance
Christmas literally "Christ's mass" is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrated generally on December 25 as a religious and cultural holiday by billions of people around the world. The word "Christmas" originated as a compound meaning "Christ's mass". I
Origin
Christmas is celebrated on December 25 in all Christian churches including Eastern Rite, Roman & Protestant. Since most Eastern Orthodox churches have not accepted either the Gregorian calendar or the Revised Julian Calendar reforms, December 25 will fall on the civil date of January 7 for the years from 1900 to 2099. It is believed that the nativity was set on December 25th by a Roman bishop around the third century A.D.
Celebration
Christmas Day is celebrated as a major festival and public holiday in countries around the world; including many whose populations are mostly non-Christian Christmas was the actual date on which Jesus was born.  Isaac Newton argued that the date of Christmas was selected to correspond with the winter solstice which the Romans called bruma and celebrated on December 25.
Poem
Why do the bells of Christmas ring?
Why do little children sing?
Once a lovely shining star,
Seen by shepherds from afar,
Gently moved until its light,
Made a manager’s cradle bright.
There a darling baby lay,
Pillowed soft upon the hay;
And its mother sung and smiled;
“This is Christ the holy child!”
Therefore bells for Christmas ring,
Therefore little children sing.
