Students
of grades VIII & IGCSE-1 of Witty International School got the opportunity
to attend the Simulation Workshop for International Schools conducted by Mr.
Tim Lewis, Head of Science from the EF Academy of Oxford (U.K) in the
Multipurpose hall at Witty World, Bangur Nagar, Goregaon (W), Mumbai on
Saturday, 15th of February, 2014. The Workshop was conducted in two
batches. The first one starting at 8:15 am to 10:15 am and the second batch from
10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Mr. Tim Lewis guided the students into the world of
critical thinking which led them into reflective writing and pushed them
towards deducing their idea of Theory of knowledge. This thought process could
only work if the students possessed a unique approach to learning science. The students were mesmerized, enthralled and
enlightened by the presentation and the highly interactive session. A small
experiment using water and Eno helped the students to formulate their theory
based on knowledge and practical evidence.
This
guided interactive session helped in not only boosting the confidence of the
students but also making them prone to critical thinking which in turn has
steered them into using their thought process towards reflecting on their
approach in construing the theory of the experiment based on Hypothesis. It was
definitely a highly rewarding session for the students as it has garnered into
them the fire of learning using their own unique approach. Students and the
faculty thanked Mr. Tim Lewis in volumes as his guiding ability was par
excellence. It was truly and thoroughly an enriching learning and interactive
experience.
