CIE
constantly strives for Excellence in Education. They impart quality education
not only to the students worldwide but also look into the professional
development for teachers. Teachers in the Cambridge global learning community
work expertly in various fields. Their professional development needs to be not
only flexible but also consistent in quality, easy to access and effective as a
learning experience. Thus to provide a framework for continuing their teaching
experience CIE conducted a two day professional development training program on
2nd and 3rd September,2014 for the AS and A level educators
for subjects Global Perspectives, Psychology, Business Studies and Accounting
which was hosted by Witty International School, Pawan Baug.
CIE
believes that the training sessions give schools opportunities to evaluate and
refresh the ways in which their teachers are developing. International Trainers
from UK, Ms Sandra Harrison, Ms Anne Nedham, Mr David Hopkins and Mr Craig
Roberts actively guided the teachers to make sure they were fully prepared to
deliver quality education. Their engaging program created a pathway so that the
teachers can provide the very best learning experience for the students. More than 80 teachers from various schools,
some ranging from Nasik, Dehradun, Faridabad and few all the way from Tanzania,
took part in the training to learn more about the teaching process. Educators
of Witty International School were also mentored and guided by the
International Trainers.
Mr
Bijo Kurian, Principal of Witty International School, said, “The program has
helped many teachers as they have been transformed from being just textbook
driven teachers to active facilitators of learning. Teachers have turned into
confident individuals as they now provide children ample space for thinking for
themselves, collaborating with peers to work as teams and voicing their
opinions and ideas.”
Teachers
felt that the program changed their classroom practices and they now started
adopting the new methodologies which was truly satisfying and enriching. “We
have begun to enjoy the teaching process. Seeing our smiling faces, students
feel happier attending lectures. We are confident that the academic learning of
our school will now be at its peak,” said a Business Studies Educator.
CIE
will continue conducting these programs in collaboration with Witty
International School, Pawan Baug to enable facilitators to derive benefits of
global learning.
