Witty International School, Pawan Baug celebrates International Yoga Day

At Witty International School, we recognize the imperative of imparting an educational experience that is world-class in every respect and which prepares children for global citizenship. The School's mission is to provide a learning environment that encourages children to bring out the best in themselves and which supports their all-round development, through discovering the joy of learning, awakening and illuminating their intellect in multi-dimensional ways, and instilling abiding values in themselves. Witty International School has always been instrumental in holding various health programmes. Apart from all other sport activities, yoga has also been a part of the school curriculum.

As quoted by our Principal Mr. Bijo Kurian “Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline which  has been speculated to date back to pre-Vedic Indian traditions, in India. As Yoga has techniques of controlling the body and the mind; it becomes a disciplined method for students to improve concentration for attainment of goal. Apart from the spiritual goals, such kind of sessions help the students to alleviate health problems and reduce stress.”

In keeping up with this philosophy and in commemoration of International Yoga Day WIS arranged a programme wherein students had the opportunity to practice and learn from a highly acclaimed Yoga Guru practicing multiple styles of Yoga including Kundalini Yoga, Power Vinyasa Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Kriya Yoga. The International Yoga Day programme at WIS explored the eight limbs of Yoga and how they apply to our lives.

Renowned Yoga Guru, Shree Hitesh Amarseda  from the Art of Living conducted the Yoga Day Programme in Witty International School, Pawan Baug. The session included  prayer, meditation, games, c̣ālana kriyas ,various yogasanas like tādāsana, vruḳ- sasana, pada-hastasana, ardha cạkrasana, trikoṇasana , bhadrasana,  śasankasana, vakrasana and many more following the “Ayush Manual for World Yoga Day.” Many young and enthusiastic students bent and twisted their bodies in complex postures during the event. An insight into developing and enhancing a better life style was preached and practiced through the session which ended with a harmonious and peaceful meditation.
