The
celebration of Van Mahotsav at Witty International School, PawanBaug was an
ideal opportunity to instill personal and social responsibility in our students
towards safeguarding trees and forests. The annual
tree planting festival in India was celebrated on Friday, 3rdJuly,
2015 with great splendor and enthusiasm.
Stressing the need
for tree plantation, Mahatma Gandhi had once said, “What we are doing to the
forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to
ourselves and to one another.”
It needs to be
understood that trees are an effective way to prevent global warming and reduce
pollution.
Each student of Grade
I and II made a green leaf which was collated to make the Witty Tree of Wisdom.
Students of Grade III and IV initiated a ‘Plant a Sapling’ Drive, where each
class planted a sapling and pledged to nurture it.
Thus, the students
had the opportunity to fulfill their duty towards environment. In the words of
John Milton, “Accuse not nature, it hath done her part, do thou but thine”.
