Student Council Elections in WIS Pawan Baug

It is said, ‘Students of today are the visionaries and torch bearers of tomorrow.’ Implementing the thought in the best manner Witty international School, Pawan Baug conducted its Student Council Elections. 

Secondary section students enthusiastically stood for various posts such as the Head Girl, Head Boy, Sports captain, Cultural captain, House captains, House Vice- Captains and Prefects. Campaigning was conducted in full swing during the run up to the elections. The contestants gave inspiring speeches as part of their campaigning in the school assembly. They put up posters all over the school. Principal Bijo Kurian, in his speech, asked the students to make the right decision while electing their leaders and wished the contestants all the best. 

Students were given the opportunity to campaign for their post for an entire week.  One could see a wide range of impressive and unique symbols used by the students for their campaigning. Later at the end of the week, the students voted for different posts in the student council through a secret ballot voting system. Teachers acted as polling officers and observers and ensured that free and fair elections were conducted.

It was a close run election wherein all of the candidates did an amazing job, using a variety of persuasive tactics in the hope of being elected.  Finally the students had spoken, and they had elected their leaders. After a nail-biting wait, the results were declared on the same day, electing Rohan Potdar as the Head Boy, Vanshika Doshi as the Head Girl, Pratham Arora as the Sports Captain and Vaishist Verma as the Cultural Captain. House Captains and House Vice Captains elected were also worthy and responsible candidates.

The Principal, Mr. Bijo Kurian congratulated the new council team and guided them into the arena of leadership with his inspiring words; “If you learn to grow with others only then you become a true leader. Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions. As Council members the experience that you gain in Student leadership – dealing with school management, dealing with your peers and juniors, organizing events and representing our School will be great training and experience for your future leadership roles in life.”

It was a truly a memorable day for the Wittians as this was a small step towards their big future.
