Democracy comes alive at Witty International School

Students of today are the visionaries and torch bearers of tomorrow and Witty International School, Pawan Baug has always believed that Democracy needs to be learnt at the grass root level. To give the students the feel of the functioning of an administrative body, the school conducted the most awaited event of the beginning of the scholastic year, the Investiture ceremony. This ceremony marks in the essence of consensus which is the most essential element of a democracy. The deserving young talents were bestowed with the responsibility of leading the school. Foreseeing the welfare of the student’s future to train them in leadership skills the school’s student’s council was selected after a rigorous democratic process in which the students had to go through many process to get selected for the much- coveted Student’s Council body. 

Candidates who were vying for the post in the Student’s Council had to propose their viewpoints and come up with their original symbols and slogans. The enthusiastic and excited contestant led the campaigning with much exhilaration. Each of the contestants tried to outshine their opponents and finally the casting and counting of votes led to the declaration of the winners. The jubilant new team congratulated each other and promised themselves to stay true to their post.

 Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life, this has always been the motto of the school and keeping this in mind the brilliant new Student’s Council team was conferred with their badges, scarves and the flags. The radiant, enthusiastic and energetic new team marched in donning a bright smile on their faces.

The Principal bequeathed, the badges and scarves to the Head Boy, Rohan Potdar,  Head Girl, Vanshika Doshi, Sports Captain, Pratham Arora,  Cultural Captain, Vasisht Varma, the four House Captains, Dhruv Shetty, Ruby House, Drishti Arora, Emerald House, Raunak Bhutani, Sapphire House and Vedant Dixit, Topaz House. The four Vice-House Captains and Class Prefects also received their badges respectively.

The New Council team introduced themselves, took the oath of office and signed the Book of Pledge. They promised to uphold the honour of the institution and to work in harmony for the progress of the students and school in consultation with their mentors, the teachers. The Head Boy, Head Girl, Sports Captain and Cultural Captain also shared their plans for the academic year and requested for the cooperation form their mates which will help in the smooth functioning of the school. They also maintained that the first priority of the team would be to maintain the discipline and the decorum of the school. They even thanked their mates for bestowing faith in them and making them the winners in the elections. 

The Principal, Mr. Bijo Kurian quoted, “Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it's amazing what they can accomplish.” 

The ceremony ended with the National Anthem reverberating the auditorium and filling the sense of pride and excitement within the student’s council for the forthcoming year.
