Hari Merdeka - the Independence Day of Malaysia
31 August Hari Merdeka is the Independence Day of Malaysia. It is
a national holiday which commemorates the independence of the Federation of
Malaya from British colonial rule on 31 August 1957. The effort for
independence was spearheaded by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first
Prime Minister of Malaysia.On this day of the formation of Malaysia, Malaysians
from all backgrounds, race and religion come together in a harmonious way.Traditionally, a
grand and colourful parade is held at the Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia National Day was celebrated
with fervour and eagerness by the students of Witty International School on 30th
August, 2016. The students got familiarised about the history, culture,
tradition and food among various other things about the country of Malaysia.
They also learned about the Malaysian Flag and participated in the activity of
Collage Making.
