Vanmahotsav Celebrations by Grade I - Witty World Chikoowadi


‘Think Green Live Green’

Vanmahotsav – The festival of trees is celebrated every year to bring awareness about the importance
of planting and conserving trees. Trees serve a variety of purposes like providing food, fuel and shelter.Planting trees will also help in slowing global warming and reducing pollution.

Grade 1 students of Witty World School participated in various activities conducted over three days to celebrate the festival. As Vanmahotsav is synonym to green colour students came dressed in green to school on 4 th of July, 2017. Information on Vanmahotsav was given to the students and green hand cutouts were used to make tress. On 5 th of July, 2017 students enjoyed watching the movie Rio 2 which helped them understand that forests provide shelter to many birds and animals. The celebration culminated on 7th July, 2017 with students planting saplings.

The activities helped students to understand the importance of trees and encouraged them not only to
grow trees but to also to preserve them.
