Birds flying in the sky are much more
beautiful than the kites.
The festival of Makar Sankrati is
celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. On 14th January the sky is
filled with kites of all shapes, sizes and colours. A strong, sharp thread is used
to fly the kite. This glass powder coated thread poses a threat to the birds
flying in the sky. The birds get entangled in this thread causing injuries and
mutilation of wings. At witty World Chikuwadi an awareness session about kite
string injuries was organised for the students of Sr Kg and Grade 1. The
volunteers of Samkit Yuva Mandal sensitised the students about the impact of
kite flying on birds and encouraged the students to avoid using glass coated
thread.
