Blog on movie -The Martian
At Witty International School we believe that Films
can
be a gateway to exploring complex ideas and open children's eyes to other ways
of looking at the world. We aim
to show the world’s best internationally acclaimed documentaries and movies on
the unexplored parts of our planet.
Students were shown ‘The Martian’ which is a
scientific fiction. The
movie skates a
fine line between making too light of a situation with jokes and putting in
enough danger, uncertainty and emotion to be an entertaining and compelling
science-fiction film.
It's the humor that is easily
the most appealing part of the movie. Humor isn't normally such a strong
element in a dramatic movie about one man's survival, but it plays an important
part here in his one-man show on Mars. It allows the main character to explain
what he's doing and what his plans are (and what his mistakes are) without it
being too boring to the viewer.
The
movie aimed at teaching the children to keep busy, keep your mind distracted,
and keep moving slowly towards where you want to be. Do the most menial tasks
if you must, or exercise intensely to remove your mind
from your problems. Once you’ve stopped endlessly thinking about the issue,
you’ll find it’s a lot easier to start seeing positive solutions and hope in
the situation.
