"Vaachan Prerna Diwas" celebrated by Primary section at Witty Kids, Chikoowadi (2018-19)



 

“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.”

 Technology and gadgets have almost taken over the habit of reading. 15th October, the birth anniversary of former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam, is celebrated as Vaachan Prerna Diwas’ (Inspire to Read Day) an incredible way to encourage reading in children and a unique tribute to his vision and knowledge. ‘Vaachan Prerna Diwas’ was observed at Witty Kids Chikoowadi as a mark of respect and to pay homage to our former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who loved reading and writing.

To commemorate this day a host of activities were planned to cultivate the habit of reading among students A book exhibition was organized in school. Wide range of books like encyclopedias, reference books, fiction, non-fiction were displayed. Children selected the books they wished to read. The opportunity to browse books of so many varieties and in a large number at a time was a wonderful experience for the children. The aim of the activity was to encourage and inculcate the love for reading among students. Subject related reading activities were planned for the day. Students read stories and shared them with their friends. A fruitful day encouraging reading habits in the students.
