Chinese New Year

'Gong Xi Fa Cai'

Celebrating festivals is an integral part of learning and building a strong cultural belief in a child. Witty kids encourages students to take part in a wide range of cultural and religious festivals that take place throughout the year.

Wittians celebrated Chinese New Year on 4th February 2019. Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the main Chinese festival of the year. The festival celebrates the start of new life and the season of ploughing and sowing. Red the traditional colour that represents joy and happiness is used for just about everything during the celebration. Lion and dragon dances are common during the Chinese New Year as it is believed that the loud drumming and clashing of cymbals will chase away bad luck and evil spirits.

On the day of celebration, students learned about the twelve Zodiac signs and enjoyed making Dragon Puppets.

Through these activities, the school hopes that students appreciate the Chinese traditions when they celebrate this special day with their family members & relatives.
